Home Learning 30.4.20

Thursday 30th April 2020

Hello Crocodiles,

I hope you enjoyed the activities yesterday. See if you can practice our hello song with your grown ups today. Can you remember the words?

“Hello everyone, hello everyone, hello everyone, it’s good to see you here.”

Here are today’s home learning activities:

Maths

Can you remember which number we learnt about last week? Number 10!

This week we will be learning how to ‘Just add one’

Can you watch the numberblocks episode below and talk about what happens with a grown up? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCaPWZXkcUI

Can you explain that when you add one more to a number, the number gets one bigger.

Can your child use blocks/household objects to create a tower for each number. Start with one block for number one, then two blocks for number two and so on until you have 10 towers.

(If you do not have materials to build a tower, can you make a row of objects instead)

Ask your child to find you the tower with 3 blocks, then with 6 blocks. Can they find the right tower?

Make it easier- Towers to 3 or 5

Challenge– Ask your child to find you the tower with one more than 4.

Ask your child to close their eyes, remove one of their towers. Can they work out which tower is missing by checking the remaining towers.

Challenge– Make this more difficult by mixing up the remaining towers first so they have to re-order from 1-10 to find the missing tower.

Health and Self care

Can you talk to your child about road safety? Ask your child where do vehicles travel? Where do pedestrians (people) walk? Talk to your child about how to walk safely when near a road. E.g. holding the hand of a grown up, not walking near the road.

Thank you

Miss Crossley
