Good morning Kangaroos and Giraffes,

We hope you have had a lovely break and are ready to start the new half term.

We are starting our new topic, ‘Roaming in the Rainforest’ today. We hope you are going to enjoy finding out about the rainforests and different animals that live there.

Phonics

How many words can you think of that have the letter group ‘a-e’, as in cake, in them? Can you write the words in your workbook and read them to a grown up?

English

What do you think a rainforest is?

Close your eyes and imagine that you are standing in the middle of the rainforest. In your workbooks, we would like you to draw a picture of what you imagine that you would see and hear in a rainforest.

Can you tell grown up why you think it is called a ‘rainforest’?

Maths

Red, Possums, Blue, Green, Wombats and Koalas – Practice counting to 100. Then 20 objects from around your house. (Lego pieces, pencils, toy cars). We would like you put them into 2 piles. How many different ways can you split the 20 objects. For example, 13 in one pile, how many in the other pile? Try lots of different ways.

Yellow and Crocodiles – Practice counting to 20. Then 10 objects from around your house. (Lego pieces, pencils, toy cars). We would like you put them into 2 piles. How many different ways can you split the 10 objects. For example, 3 in one pile, how many in the other pile? Try lots of different ways.

Geography

Can you find out about an animal that lives in the rainforest? In your workbook, we would like you to draw a picture of the animal and write the name of it.

Have a lovely day.
