A fantastic start to Year 1

After a very strange half term I am so proud of how Giraffe class have settled. They have worked so hard. Here are some pictures of them all working hard.

Forest Schools

This half term we started working with Mr Pearson in our Forest School area. The focus has been our senses and we used our ears to listen for different sounds in nature. The children then made a natural wind chime using leaves and twigs.

Maths

We have starting looking at number bonds to 10 this half term. We have been doing this practically and then recorded them in our books.

English

We read the book Elmer this half term and practiced using our phonics to begin writing sentences. We focused on fingerspaces and everyone used them correctly.

Using the Tagtiv8 letters to make words for our sentences

Wear Yellow for Mental Health

This couldn’t be more perfect for the time we are living in at the minute. Everyone came wearing yellow and we talked lots about how we are feeling and what we could do if we were feeling sad.

Halloween

What a fantastic end to the half term. We all came dressed up in our Halloween costumes. We sang spooky songs and made pumpkins using 2D shapes.

Well done Giraffes for working hard. Enjoy your break and I will see you all in November for some more fun learning.
